When you see the Zeichen
The sign announces a truck stop in the immediate vicinity of a motorway exit. If you want to use it, look out for the following exit signs and move into the correct lane in good time; otherwise, continue driving normally.
Rules
- Zeichen 448.1 is an advance direction sign and neither prescribes a specific speed nor requires you to leave the motorway.
- It is placed once on the right-hand side of the carriageway, 500 to 1,000 metres before Zeichen 448 for the motorway exit.
- The announced truck stop is located outside the motorway, but in the immediate vicinity of a motorway exit.
- A Zusatzzeichen uses graphic symbols to show which services the truck stop offers, such as fuel, refreshments or overnight accommodation.
Tips
- Check the symbols early on to see whether the truck stop offers the service you need.
- If you want to leave the motorway, then look out for the regular exit signs and move into the appropriate lane without making hasty lane changes.
- Do not confuse the advance announcement with the actual exit: after leaving the motorway, follow the further directions to the truck stop.
- If your fuel level is low or you need a break, bear in mind that the truck stop can only be reached via the announced motorway exit.
