Parking zone
The sign indicates the boundary of an area where special provisions apply to the parking or stopping of vehicles. The special provisions that apply are shown by symbols and text on the sign. The sign applies until it is cancelled by sign 378 “End of parking zone”. For specified sections of road within the area, different provisions concerning parking or stopping may be established by signs. The zone sign’s provisions do not apply to these sections of road.
When you see the sign
Read the symbols and text on the sign before you enter the area, and comply with the stated provisions when stopping or parking. The provisions apply throughout the zone until sign 378 «Slutt på parkeringssone», unless another sign establishes different rules on a specific road section.
Rules
- The sign's symbols and text indicate which special provisions on parking or stopping apply in the zone.
- The provisions apply from the moment you pass the sign until they are revoked by sign 378 «Slutt på parkeringssone».
- A sign on a specific road section within the zone may establish different rules from those shown on the zone sign.
- On a road section with different signage, the local signs apply instead of the provisions shown on the zone sign.
Tips
- Reduce your speed enough to give yourself time to read all the text and symbols at the entrance to the zone.
- Remember that the zone rules still apply after intersections; look for the sign indicating that the zone has ended.
- Always check for new signs along the street before parking, because a specific road section may have different rules.
- Look for conditions such as times, charges, permitted parking duration or restrictions for particular vehicles.
Common misconceptions
- Thinking that the sign applies only at the entrance or as far as the next intersection.
- Assuming that the sign always means parking is free or permitted without reading the symbols and text.
- Overlooking local signs on a road section and continuing to follow the zone rules where the local signs establish something different.

Theory test tip
In the theory test, the common trap is how long the provisions apply: They do not automatically end at the next intersection, but at sign 378 «Slutt på parkeringssone», or they are replaced on a specific road section by different local signs.
Did you know
A zone sign makes it possible to establish parking or stopping rules for an entire area without repeating the same provision on every street. However, different rules may still be indicated separately on individual road sections.
Frequently asked questions
How long do the provisions in the zone apply?
They apply from the moment you pass the sign until sign 378 «Slutt på parkeringssone». On some road sections, other signs may establish different rules.
Do the zone rules end at the next intersection?
No, an intersection does not end the zone. You will normally have to pass the sign indicating that the parking zone has ended.
What should I do if there is another parking sign inside the zone?
Follow the different signs on the relevant road section. The provisions shown on the zone sign do not apply there to the extent that the local signs regulate parking or stopping.
Does the sign mean that I can always park in the area?
No. You must read the symbols and text, which may indicate permissions, prohibitions and conditions relating to parking or stopping.
